Here is a sweet pair of cicadas ready to fly on your ears.

Each begins with a gorgeous handmade lampwork bead. Depending on lighting, the bead may appear dark, but in brighter light, the richness of reds and other subtle hues emerges. I added a rich brown patina to delicate filigree charms to represent the wings, with a slender brass charm underneath for depth. The eyes are deep red opaque glass beads underlined with a deep brown disc.

This is my second cicada design — more realistic and slightly elegant. These lightweight earrings swing and are fun to wear.
